CoreAlign takes mind body fitness to a whole new level. The innovative equipment and exercise system is the perfect addition to Pilates, physical therapy or personal training practice.

Unique Approach – Whether it’s an increased level of fitness or an improved way of moving through everyday life, the new CoreAlign provides a unique approach to functional movement, combining cardiovascular work and integrated full-body exercises with a mind-body approach. Most exercises are done standing which leads to a rapid improvement in posture, balance and functional movement.

Equipment – Developed by physical therapist Jonathan Hoffman in collaboration with Balanced Body, the CoreAlign’s sliding carts move independently, with both resistance and assistance possible in both directions. You can change the resistance easily to create over 150 exercises that address every part of the body.

Easy-to-learn exercises on the CoreAlign® emphasize an upright posture and are designed to improve posture, balance and functional movement. Developed by physical therapist Jonathan Hoffman, CoreAlign exercises facilitate musculoskeletal rehabilitation by stimulating core stability muscles to fire in perfect timing while performing challenging exercises, very deep stretches and core-controlled, aerobic conditioning. CoreAlign training is also great for performance enhancement and as a regular exercise regimen for a healthy lifestyle.

The CoreAlign device sports two independent tracks and a workout ladder. The CoreAlign’s frame encloses two tracks and carts, which move independently with smooth resistance (or assistance) created by six elastic resistance tube assemblies on each cart. Resistance/assistance is possible in one or both directions. Extraordinary versatility with hundreds of functional movement exercises! Challenging, fun and very effective. The apparatus enables clients to exercise in an upright, functional posture while addressing muscle balance, alignment, coordination, stability and strength. Combining the tracks with upright postures is a key element in giving clients an immediate feel for proper alignment while doing specific exercises. As a result, they are able to make changes that translate into improved function within a single session. The nervous system is stimulated to correct compensatory movement patterns, resulting in better balance, coordination and more efficient movement.

Pretty much anyone: people rehabilitating from back and neck pain, joint problems and sports injuries are ideally suited for training with CoreAlign.

Aging adults, people with osteoporosis, and others with pain conditions also benefit because of the low impact nature of the exercises.

High level athletes, including racquet enthusiasts, runners and golfers will find the method challenging and varied, while also enabling them to establish a powerful core for improved sport performance. In the same fashion that Pilates exercise caught a significant wave of success in the 90s and beyond, so this new program appears to be on track to rise to equal, if not greater heights of success due to the impressive physical and mental changes it promotes as well as the stimulating, cardiovascular component.

The CoreAlign is an impressive tool for gait training. With the unique design and use of individual carts and the upright standing position, there is an optimal force on the entire body to facilitate and train gait with the proper oppositional muscle groups.

The resistance of the carts can be easily adjusted and the addition of upper extremity movements and trunk motion can make the routines appropriate for clients ranging from rehabilitation to elite athlete training programs.

The CoreAlign is designed with the basic concept that we walk upright so even the basic moves on the CoreAlign mimic walking in a dynamic environment. Placing a client on the CoreAlign who is having difficulty with walking is fascinating and, as many users have noticed, can be quite humbling! Compensatory movement patterns show up right away but respond quite quickly as the nervous system is stimulated to find a better movement pattern. Instructors can analyze their clients in a functional position, while allowing them to feel the compensations they are observing.

The CoreAlign does not tolerate cheating so when a client is not strong enough or not using the proper muscles they will be unable to complete the movement on the machine in an effortless manner. It also offers a unique postural challenge in standing that encourages activation of the deep inner core muscles that many clients have difficulty recruiting correctly. The CoreAlign provides a continuum from rehabilitation to fitness.

Most people who begin using it as part of their rehab find they enjoy the exercise progressions. As a result, many want to continue after rehab and find that it’s a great way to exercise for a lifetime. The CoreAlign enables its users to optimize their movement patterns, to reduce compensation and improve efficiency. We encourage you to try it out – you will feel it for days! Your will sense the difference as you train new movement patterns and realize that you can move with efficiency, feel younger and taller and see improvements with your activities of daily living, whether sports or work related.
